Promoting Pride in our Rural Villages

20 September 2007

This two year cross border project funded through the Interreg IIIA Programme through the Dept of Agriculture and Rural Development is a tourism initiative from the East Border Region Tourism Partnership.

The project recognises the role of villages as hubs of rural life and is helping communities to address economic development issues, attract more visitors and work together for a sustainable future by:

  • improving the appearance of rural villages in the region
  • investing in new facilities and amenities
  • providing training and mentoring for businesses, community and regeneration groups

The project will seek to sustain and improve the competitiveness of local rural businesses, safeguard existing jobs and create new employment while simultaneously increasing the level of tourism and tourism opportunities.
