This project was designed to pilot a model of training which can be used to promote understanding, develop networking and establish a leadership and management skills set that enabled local authority staff on both sides of the border to work together constructively and productively on cross border initiatives and projects designed to benefit citizens in both jurisdictions. The
programme consisted of nine workshops plus a site visit by each participant to their opposite jurisdiction for ‘peer learning’.
The project afforded participants the opportunity to share knowledge and best practice on common legislation which informs and directs the work of local authorities in both jurisdictions. In addition the project involved training on leadership/management skills, specifically geared to the local authority sector.
