SUMMARY:Managing Risk in Major Projects
DESCRIPTION:This training is delivered as part of the BRIDGE project and is open to staff and elected members from East Border Region and Irish Central Border Area Network member councils. If you’re unsure whether your organisation is eligible\, please check our website for further information.\nWhat will I learn?\nThis workshop prepares participants to manage uncertainty across a project’s full life cycle\, from approval through to completion. It covers risk registers\, assurance frameworks\, internal audit\, procurement and construction risk\, plus the pressures of inflation and cost escalation. Participants will see how risk\, performance and governance work together to keep projects on track. \nHow will it be delivered?\nThrough practical discussion\, participants will explore recognised risk management techniques\, project controls and internal governance structures. They’ll learn how to monitor performance and spot early warning signs of underperformance\, and pick up practical guidance on what to do\, and what to avoid\, when things start to go wrong. \nWhat will I get out of it?\nBy the end of the session\, participants can identify and manage strategic\, financial\, operational and programme risks. They’ll develop and interpret risk registers\, and apply benefits management and post-project evaluation principles to strengthen organisational resilience. \nGet Involved\nIf your council is participating in BRIDGE\, contact your organisation’s BRIDGE representative to find out about upcoming sessions and how to register. For general enquiries about the programme\, contact East Border Region or explore our website.

DESCRIPTION:This training is delivered as part of the BRIDGE project and is open to council officials and elected members from East Border Region and Irish Central Border Area Network member councils. If you’re unsure whether your organisation is eligible\, please check our website for further information.\nWhat will I learn?\nThis workshop covers the financial leadership needed to deliver compliant\, well-governed externally funded programmes. It covers financial governance\, programme management and financial control. It also builds skills in project sustainability and strategic decision-making across complex\, multi-partner projects. \nHow will it be delivered?\nThrough practical discussion\, participants will build effective governance arrangements for multi-partner projects. In addition\, they’ll understand how financial performance\, outcomes and benefits realisation connect. Finally\, they’ll prepare projects for financial closure and apply lessons learned from previous PEACEPLUS\, Shared Island and EU-funded programmes. \nGet Involved\nIf your council is taking part in BRIDGE\, contact your council’s BRIDGE representative to register for this session. For general enquiries about the project\, contact East Border Region or explore our website.
